Pirate Party and Consensus Meetup

Want to get involved in future politics?

I like to think while PPUK may be the ‘digital rights’ party of today, the mainstream politics of tomorrow is still very much up for grabs

We’re not the only group thinking this way. Zero State is a futurist organization running a number of projects from a Bitcoin economy, the emergent area of biohacking through to supporting full blown life extension projects. There’s even an emergent philosophy/ideology in development called ‘Doctrine Zero’ featuring sensible tenets of ranging from rationality to compassion.

With politicians increasingly fighting over the center ground, technical and scientific truths too often fall by the wayside when inconvenient, in favour for short term corporate or populist objectives. As such the founders of Zero State have spun off a project to define what could be the political party of tomorrow, called The Consensus.

Monthly meetings are planned in London for anyone open to TechnoProgressive  politics , regardless of existing party affiliations or activities, with the aim of discovering common ideals, drawing attention to overlooked policies, being exposed to new points of view and having a few drinks. Whether a new political movement is born, or simply a strong set of ideas emerges – the process should be enlightening and engaging for everyone involved.

Zero State have already indicated their support for Pirate Party policies and ideals, this process should be considered entirely complementary to PPUK policy development, so don’t worry about conflicts of interest.

Why not come down to the next meeting in London, even if you’ve never come to a PPUK meeting before? You can meet myself and ask me questions about PPUK, the founders of Zero State as well as varied people looking ahead to make a difference in the politics of the future.

The next meeting will be at 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the upstairs of The Queen’s Larder pub near Russell Square in London. Feel free to discuss this project on the PPUK forums or drop me an email: (

Anything that will derail the GOP is a positive development IMO- the last decade proved we can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs—nothing we could possibly do could match the distortion starting around the time Iraq was invaded 2003.

We are less interested in derailing existing political processes than in bypassing them. Darknets, bitcoin, intentional communities, internal judiciaries…

Dirk, without living abroad one cannot say what situations are like eleswhere but I do know America belongs to the wealthy, and they have no intention of relinquishing their being on top. 45 yrs after 1968 there isn’t one social democracy in the Western Hemisphere; libertarianism in the US is a nonstarter because power and wealth are more important to the majority of Americans—rich or poor—than liberty. Darknets, bitcoin, intentional communities, internal judiciaries pale into insignificance next to the death grip of power and money. And violence, btw.
