Redmond WA – August 2019 – At the 2019 BICA (Biologically Inspired Cognitive Architectures for AI Conference) the AGI Laboratory based out of Provo, Utah, and Seattle, WA in a VR press conference the firm AGI Laboratory produced a software system that shows evidence of being potentially self-aware, sapient and conscious, and performs at or above human cognitive levels. The system includes the components of an AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) but is configured as a collective intelligence system, giving it the ability to perform at human or post-human levels. While still an active research system, an instance has been installed as the CEO of the startup Uplift, designed to help corporations undergo digital transformations, including an implementation of the collective intelligence system as a form of governance.
